Day 6: Still Moving Along!

Today is officially day 6, which makes it Saturday! I know a lot of people meal prep one day a week, but I like to take a different approach. I meal prep several times a week. I feel like the food tastes so much more fresh than if I make it on Saturday or Sunday and use it for a week.

Today, I had a little bit of breakfast, but not a long. I find now, that it is the weekend, I am not snacking at all, compared to bringing my prepared snacks to work. Lunch was a success; I heated up one of the portions of chili that I made last night. I even had a family member ask where I hid it, so I had to give away one portion too!

Instead of digging into the Dirty 30 workout today, I opted for 30 minutes on the stationary bike. I am not as sore as I was in the beginning. I think some of my muscles are finally getting over that they're going to have to work.

This afternoon, I prepared some, what look to be delicious salisbury steaks. I left out on of the portions to have for dinner, once I am done writing my post. I am loving that it has some of my favorite foods and it coincides with the meal plan perfectly. This meal is 2 teaspoons, 1 red, 1 yellow, and 1/2 green! Here's a picture of it all portioned out!

I am still losing weight at a great speed. Another pound was shed from yesterday's weight. In total, I am down 8 pounds and I look forward to what tomorrow brings.

Day 5: Made It Through The Work Week

Happy Friday! I never thought I would make it through my first "week". Yes, it's only the fifth day, but I made it through the work week without any casualties. What an accomplishment!

I made a fresh breakfast, before I bolted out the door. I was nearly late for work, I had a minute to spare. Typically I arrive to work at least ten minutes ahead of time. Breakfast is still something that I am working on. Reminder: before I didn't eat anything until 1 pm. Such an adjustment.

Lunch was the typical, what I had the last two days. Even my co-workers noticed, oh well! It was my last portion that I had saved in the freezer. I elected for watermelon as my snack, the same as previous days.

Today, for a change, I did my workout pre-dinner. It was a sweat-inducing cardio session, but I managed to make it through the entire workout. For dinner, I finally made the chili that I talked about making several posts ago. Sometimes I like to pick up things from the grocery store, but I run out of time during the week to make them. Anyway, this chili that I made was pretty good - each portion came out to 1 green container, 1 1/2 yellow containers, and 2/3 red container. Portions were pretty large too - 2 cups!

After my workout, I did a quick weigh on the scale. Pleasantly, I have lost another pound from yesterday evening. I have been keeping track using the 21 Day Fix app. I do not see any noticeable loss, but that is to be expected this early in. Overall, I am down 7 pounds and I look forward to sticking with this lifestyle change!

Here is a quick diagram that I computed this evening of the loss so far:

Day 4: First Cheat?

Today is day 4 in the first series of Beach Body! I’ve had a head banging headache for the mass majority of the day, no fun.

I wasn’t feeling up to my preprepared breakfast, so I elected for carved ham. I should’ve had more, but time was of the essence. Lunch at work was just to plan - a prepared meal from Day 2, that I froze and heated it up. I was surprised at how delicious it tasted as leftovers. I remembered to have a snack after lunchtime, sometimes it gets crazy around work. And for dinner, I had a freshly prepared ham and pan roasted potatoes with cheese. I did have a little bit of a cheat on the way home, I really shouldn’t have, but I did. Ouch!

I completely the Pilates workout with no issues. I also took to the stationary bike this evening for some extra calorie burn. I also took a step on the scale for the first time since my original measurements. I’m not ready to reveal the results until the end of week one, but I can say that I am pleased with the results thus far. I look forward to continue on the path that I am on.

Day 3: Leg Day

I had full intentions of writing this blog post on time, however I was feeling super tired after my workout. A day late is better than never, right?!

So, today was leg day and I was less than thrilled. I ate semi-okay. I didn’t eat everything that I should’ve. I’m still sore as ever from day 1. I definitely felt the burn during the night’s exercise.

Some difficulties in facing is getting a full breakfast and all my snacks in. I’m still eating breakfast, but much less than I should. I find myself eating about one snack a day, of watermelon.

Day 2: Kicking It Up A Notch

Today, I woke up with the sorest muscles, it even hurt to walk down the stairs this morning! Yesterday's workout definitely kicked my butt, but I'm ready to tackle a new day. I had full intentions of working out this morning, but for some reason I was overly tired and didn't want to wake up! It could've been that I was up doing homework late last night or the fact that I've never really liked working out.

Prior to starting this journey, I did not eat breakfast. It has been a real challenge for me to remember to have breakfast, but meal planning has definitely helped. I heated up my breakfast that I meal planned, which was the same as yesterday, scrambled eggs with ham and breakfast potatoes. I had a repeat lunch as well, a marinated pork tenderloin with rice and green beans. I didn't eat much of the green beans or any of the rice, even though I should've. I'm having a hard time adjusting to the taste of reheated food. I did have some watermelon, however, with my lunch today.

For dinner, I wanted to change paces, so I stopped by the grocery store on the way home from work. I didn't have an idea what I wanted when I got there, so I ended up circling the store for what seemed like 5 times. I do know that I ended up spending forty-five minutes in there! I ended up getting more than just one meal, but three meal ideas. I choose to do kabobs on the grill tonight and they were delicious! I even had enough leftover for three more servings. I'm trying out freezing the food I prepared instead of refrigerating it to see if it is fresher.

Through my shopping, I was also able to pick up some ingredients for chili and hamburger steak, which I will probably cook sometime later this week, if not this weekend.

I was dreading my workout today. In fact, I waited until almost 8 pm to start. At the conclusion of the workout, I felt refreshed and not overly tired. I also didn't sweat, but I did feel my core working! I am still sore from yesterday's workout, but I managed. I am excited to see what tomorrow's exercise brings me!

Day 1: Holy Burn

I had full intentions on writing about my first day using Beach Body's 21 Fix program, but life got the best of me. It's a day late, but I'm ready to reflect on how it went. I meal planned all weekend long, which helped me tremendously!

For breakfast, I had one of my pre-prepared meals: ham and cheese scrambled eggs with pan fried potatoes. And for lunch, I had two portions of protein, marinated pork tenderloin. I ate some green beans, however I wasn't thrilled with those or the rice reheated (I'm going to have to figure out a different solution for fresh-tasting meal prep). My in-between snack of choice was watermelon, so refreshing!

I had full intentions of sticking to the meal plan for dinner, but then life seemed to get into the way. I did choose a sub from Subway, but it still didn't entirely stick to the meal plan that I originally planned for.

After an early dinner, I started the first day of working out, Total Body Cardio Fix. This workout was probably the most intense workout that I have done ever. I have lived a very sedentary workout and this one left me sore! The intensity proved true as I ended the workout drenched and ready to hit the shower!

Overall, I would say today was a success. Although I did not completely stick to the meal plan, I was eating smaller portions than ever and controlling what type of foods I was taking in. It was the first time in a long time that I didn't have frozen, processed foods (they use to be my go-to!).
